MEET MARK HILL
When promoting yourself in business, a good friend once told me, “It’s a sorry dog who doesn’t know how to wag its own tail.”
I enjoy being creative, designing, conjuring great visuals and using technology to help express and deliver client needs. Experience has taught me not to bite off more than I can chew, or promise what I can’t deliver. I believe your word is your bond, and honesty will serve you better in the long-run.
My experience spans across a variety of fields from theatrical, sales, marketing, print publishing, event planning and budgeting to motion and graphics design.
At age 14, I began my journey as a professional drummer. By age 25, I had toured 48 (U.S.) states and several countries, which included a 6 month tour with the U.S. Department of Defense, USO Division. Along the way, I learned the ins-and-outs of theatrical production from performing, stage production to concert promotion and marketing.
I received my Music & Business Administration credentials from UCLA, and interned at Giant and Interscope Records in the sales and marketing departments. Prior to becoming a freelance Digital Media Design Specialist and business owner, I worked at The Urban Network Magazine as National Retail Editor. My responsibilities included weekly editorial and content, sales tracking and analysis, product database management, department marketing and promotions, and served as a liaison between music retailers and major music distributors.
During my tenure, I developed new revenue streams; cross-marketing and promotion campaigns; in-store music video loops; conference video reels; annual Retail Special Issues; and an industry-wide Retailer Guide, a comprehensive reference profiling National and Independent Music Retailers.
For the last 15 years working as a Digital Media Design Specialist, I have been fortunate to have many repeat customers that include Fortune 500 companies such as Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD) and Clear Channel Communications, as well as high-profile celebrity clients, individuals, non-profits and small-to medium businesses.
To keep up with demands and the ever-changing online and design trends and techniques, I constantly traverse the web, study online resources, attend new media training sessions and conferences. I stay current by using the latest softwares; Adobe CS6 Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro 7 and X for design, web and video to ensure the highest quality.
I am a member of the City Of Hope Music and Entertainment Committee, and volunteer as a youth league football coach and videographer.
My goals are is to engage, inform, and educate.
